I-Ching 2 Receptive Power

Jan 25, 2024

Receptive Power reminds us not to seek outside ourselves for the validation or approval we may be looking for. When this hexagram shows up, it's a reminder that our greatest power is to go within.

Similar to the hermit in tarot, you may be at a place in your life where you are being asked to go within. Some skills may have been gathered along the way, but it's now time to go back to basics and shed any idea of what you thought you knew. As you go through this profound period of introspection, consider what feelings come up for you at this time.

How many of those feelings come from a lower vibration, like fear or worry? Even feelings of uncertainty and indecision operate from a lower vibration. At the moment, I am at a huge crossroads, and the last thing I need to do is worry about making the wrong decision. It does not mean making decisions that lead nowhere or ignoring warning signals, but there are no bad decisions at the end of the day.

With the receptive power hexagram, we go inwards and activate our solar plexus and third eye. What are the deepest parts of you that you ignore? What needs must be met? Ignored needs can lead to seeking anything to fill the void, ignoring our inner truth and reinforcing the idea that we don’t know what to do or what we’re doing.

Strength doesn’t have to appear physically or in any manner that “looks” strong; sometimes strength requires patience, holding your power, and becoming a necessary magnetic force that allows vibrations and energy to build and flow from your inner core into the world.

Holding this receptive power allows you to build the force from within and draw in the changes that are
necessary for your personal growth at this current time. Do your best to accept everything about your current situation, let it be what it is, let go of control, and approach the re-direction with a tenderness necessary for your ego and heart to adapt to.

One thing I’ve noticed in times of uncertainty is the importance of harnessing the receptive power. I allow myself to have what feels like an out-of-body experience and see the habits that determine my decisions. Build your awareness about yourself right now, and take every thought into account. Every action leads to the bigger consequence that ultimately creates our lives.

Redirection is necessary for those who are really on a journey of allowing themselves the full life experience. Not settling for an ordinary life will come with more challenges. You are here to build the rest of your life, and to do that, you must become clear with your intention. Intention determines the outcome. One of the hardest things to do is redirect when you were once attached to the outcome you thought was the ultimate decision.

Most of our fears come from making mistakes that could be necessary for learning and growing. If you want to live the life you want, you’re asking to master what most people are afraid to do, fully be themselves and go for what they believe they deserve.

This hexagram says: Be the person you were always meant to be. Radiate your light as far as you possibly can. Be mindful and learn to trust yourself and the entirety of the universe and its marvels. No need to force the energies; sit back and watch the world move for you, ignite the feelings you want to see in the world, and you'll soon see how the elements dance with and for you.
